Fortnightly Reflections
Dear Friends

I hope all is well with you. These are two new poems/reflections which I hope you'll enjoy. The first is especially for today, Sunday - the day of rest! The second is a longer one called 'Creating your Reality.' I've only just written them, so let me know why you think.

                                                                        Today

Today is a day for healing

not for striving or achievement

not for confrontation or conflict

not for pleasure or diversion.

Today is a day for healing.

Today is a day for retreat

a day for regeneration

a day for reconnection

a day to slow down, step back and observe.

Today is a day for retreat.

Today is a day for being.

Today there is no future or past, only the present.

Today there is no becoming.

Today there is doing, wanting or gaining.

Today is a day for being.

Creating your Reality

If you look for reasons to be unhappy, you will see them.

If you look for reasons to be contented, you will see them.

If you want to worry, you can always find problems.

If you want to appreciate your life, you can always find blessings.

If you want to criticise, you can always find flaws.

If you want to love, you can always find beauty.

You can survey your life-situation

and select reasons to feel grateful, or reasons to complain,

as you choose.

You can anticipate the future

and select events to dread, or events to look forward to,

as you choose.

You can recollect the past

and select events that make you feel bitter, or events that make you feel proud

as you choose.

And everything you select, positive or negative,

is equally true and valid

or equally untrue and invalid.

There is no truth, only possibility.

The world is a swirling sea of potentials

which only become solid when your mind selects them.

So don’t assume that your vision is clear and true.

Don’t assume that your interpretation is correct.

When your mind makes judgements, be sceptical.

And maybe you’ll reach a point where you realise

that this selection process isn’t necessary

that there’s no need to create your own reality, when reality already exists.

You can watch the waves of possibility pass by

without trying to catch them.

Let the past sleep, let the future wait

and let the present exist as it is

without your interpretation.

all best wishes and blessings,

Steve
