I wanted to let you know that today is the official date of the US publication of The Calm Center. As you probably know already, the book is being published as an ‘Eckhart Tolle’ edition, and has an introduction by Eckhart. Here’s a short excerpt from
the introduction:
"The ultimate subject matter of almost each one of these pieces is the reader's state of consciousness. If you open yourself to its transformative power, read slowly and attentively, then you will find that each piece will work its magic within you and bring about a subtle but distinct shift in your state of
consciousness. It will free you from the mental noise of compulsive thinking and raise you into the alert inner stillness that is presence. It will awaken you to the spiritual dimension. And if you enjoy reading these poems repeatedly, their cumulative effect will be potentially life-changing. I recommend that you keep a copy of the book on your bedside table and another at your place of work to provide spiritual sustenance during your breaks, however short. The reading of each poem
can become a mini-meditation, and often one poem will be all you need at any given time. I have read some of Steve Taylor's poems out aloud to the participants at spiritual retreats, where they were enthusiastically received. I would advise that you also occasionally read your favorite pieces aloud to share with your partner, spouse, family members or group of friends. You, as well as the person listening, will benefit greatly from this, as will the quality of your
relationship."
Here are a few quotes I’ve received recently about the book too:
“Who can explain the unexplainable? Who can wrap words around the great mystery? Every now and then a book appears that adds beautiful drops to the stream of ineffable wisdom that has flowed through the ages. Steve Taylor’s new book of reflections is such a book. It opens a path to the authentic self.” — Elizabeth Lesser, author of Broken Open and cofounder of Omega Institute
“Transcendent yet grounded, profound yet simple, timeless yet refreshingly new…The Calm Center takes flight and lift us up, up, up beyond ourselves.” — Arjuna Ardagh, author of The Translucent
Revolution
“Waking up and opening our awareness to the gift of this human life requires courage. Steve Taylor’s poetry calls us back, encourages us on the journey, and reminds us of the joy and ease beneath all the daily trying. These poems help take us home.” — Oriah Mountain Dreamer, author of The
Invitation
I’m holding a free on-line launch for the book on Sunday May 31st. I’ll be reading some pieces from the book, discussing them, and
you’ll be able to ask me questions about the book. Click here to view and share this event; if you select 'Yes' underneath 'Are you going to watch?' the event will be saved in your list of events, or, if you don't have a Google account, you'll be given instructions on how to create one.
The book will be officially published in the UK a little later, on June 12th.
All best wishes, and I hope you enjoy the book!
