Dear
I hope you are well. It seems like spring is on its way. There's a sense of new vitality and optimism in the air. Maybe it's also a spring for the human race, and there is a new era of human consciousness on its way - an emergence of a higher-functioning collective self, with a new sense of connection and a transcendence of the ego...That may seem like a dream, but if you've any of my books (especially The Leap) you'll know
that I do believe that human are is undergoing a collective shift, to a more expansive less ego-bound type of being. I believe that this shift has been underway since the 18th century, at least. So in a sense the spring (or leap) of the human race is on its way. There's a wonderful poem on exactly this theme by D.H. Lawrence, called 'Craving for Spring.'
But that's not the purpose of this mail. Its main purpose is to let you know about some events I have coming up in the UK, during February and March. All of these events are very interactive, including meditations, discussions and questions. They are evening events, lasting 90mins to two hours.
Feb 26th, Liverpool - The Psychology of Spiritual Awakening. Details here
March 19th, Manchester - The Psychology of Time Perception (based on my book ’Making Time’). Details here
March 28th, Leeds - The Science of Spirituality. Details here
I hope to see you at one of them. If you're not in the UK, I'll hopefully see you some other time in your country! On the theme of spring, let me leave with you a poem I wrote a few years ago, included in my book The Meaning.
A Spring Day
It’s one of those spring days
when gardens are flashing and sparkling
like a slow-motion firework display
and streets are scattered with blossom
as if a wedding party has just passed by
and the whole world seems ready to celebrate.
It’s one of those spring days
when the wind blows with an urgency
carrying messages from tree to tree
while the sunlight glints expectantly
and clouds rush across the sky
as if they all know that a miracle is about to take place.
It’s one of those spring days
when the dark dusty corners of my being
are flushed with freshness and life again
and the feeling rises from a deep forgotten place
that all is well, and all will be well, always.
all best wishes and blessings, Steve
