I hope you are well. One of the best moments of an author’s life is when a a box of copies of your new book arrives. Here’s a picture of me looking at the freshly printed copies of The Clear Light. I think it looks great! New World Library have done a fantastic job on the cover and content. A lovely hardback green with a luminous wrap around cover.

The Clear Light is Published (in the US)!

The book is now officially published in the US. As you may know Eckhart Tolle, has written a beautiful foreword for the book too, in which he says, ‘"Steve Taylor’s The Clear Light is not only a book of inspiring spiritual and poetic reflections, but also a powerful and invaluable guide to the realization of who or what you are beyond the conditioned mind. If you read it slowly, attentively and repeatedly, it can take you beyond identification with the content of your mind and into the clear light of present moment awareness."

New Podcast

I've begun my own podcast and have uploaded the first three episodes! The idea is that I read one of the pieces from my book, then lead a meditation or meditative exercise based on it. I really enjoyed composing and playing the intro and outro music! (Maybe one day I'll release a guitar album.)

New Meditation

Over the next few weeks, I'll be posting a series of meditations through Insight Timer. The idea is similar to my podcasts - I read one my poetic pieces, then guide you through a meditation based on it. The first one is the poem 'You are not the process' with a meditation designed to help you dis-identify from your thinking mind. I also have a few older meditations on Insight Timer.

Making the Human Race Whole

I’d like to leave you one of my favourite pieces from The Clear Light. I think it’s especially relevant in the present time of division and discord.

Make as many connections as you can
so that this broken world can become whole again.

It’s your responsibility

to radiate benevolence to everyone you meet

to be reckless with your friendliness
and to surprise strangers with your openness
on behalf of the whole human race.

It’s your responsibility
to turn suspicion to trust, hostility to sympathy
to expose the absurdity of prejudice
to return hatred with implacable goodwill
until your enemies have no choice but to love you
on behalf of the whole human race.

It’s your responsibility
to free yourself from bitterness
and to harness the healing power of forgiveness
to repair connections and reestablish bonds
that were broken by resentment years ago
on behalf of the whole human race.

It’s your responsibility
to open up channels of empathy
through which compassion can flow
until there are so many connections
across so many different networks
that finally, like the cells of a body
billions of human beings will fuse together
sensing their common sources
and their common core.

Then a new identity will emerge, an overriding oneness.
A human race that is truly whole, at last.
