DesConectados

Here's a synchronicity...About three months ago, I was in Spain, doing some interviews and events for the Spanish publication of my book DisConnected (DesConectados). One was a long interview for the newspaper La Vanguardia. Last week I was wondering what happened about the interview, since I hadn't been notified about it. And it was actually published the following day…The book has had a lot of attention in Spain, and has become a bestseller, which is great. Hopefully it will become a bestseller in the UK and US next!
 

Psychology Today Article 

If you live in the US and see Psychology Today magazine on the newsstands, check out my article in the new issue. It’s about altruism and the psychology of heroism. What makes people prepared to risk their lives to help others? It's because we are manifestations of the same fundamental consciousness. We risk our lives for others because ultimately there is only one life,  I also describe how spiritual awakening can shift people towards an altruistic life purpose. European Transpersonal Association Conference 

In just over a week, I’m travelling to Italy to speak at the annual EUROTAS (European Transpersonal Association) conference. I've been there twice before, in 2014 and 2019, and had a wonderful experience both times. More information here

Poems

As usual, let me finish with poetry. A couple of weeks ago, I was going through all my unpublished poems, and collecting them on to one file on my computer, I have about 250 of them! Not all of them are publishable but most of them are. So at some point I'll have to put together a substantial new book of poems! Here are two new poems I’ve written over the last month. Let me know if you like these new ones. 

We Are Transmitters

Every moment, our thoughts alter the atmosphere,

charge the air around us with fear or peace.

Every moment, our actions create the future 

start sequences of cause and effect

that change the lives of others, for good or bad.

Our souls are like stars

pulsing softly through space

emitting subtle vibrations

that are absorbed by every other soul 

in harmony or discord. 

Even if you feel powerless and purposeless

you’re a god-like being who controls the world

whose every intention or decision

ripples endlessly through time and space 

disturbing or affirming

the order of the universe. 

Like a god, you have a choice 

to radiate darkness or light.

Like a god, you have the power

to damage or heal the world.

The Treasure 

When you feel dissatisfied at home 

and travel to distant places

in search of excitement and fulfilment 

remember that the deepest happiness 

is always inside you, wherever you are. 

When your familiar world has grown stale

and you yearn for stimulation 

to reignite your dull awareness

remember that the brightest radiance

is always inside you, wherever you are. 

When your friends and family frustrate you 

and you crave for new relationships

to remind you that you’re valuable 

remember that your most authentic self 

is always inside you, whoever you’re with. 

You’ve always carried contentment with you 

but you‘ve forgotten it’s there

like a gift you were given long ago

and absent-mindedly stored away.

You’ve been taught that everything must be earned 

so can’t believe that happiness is so close and easy. 

Your life seems so complex, the world seems so chaotic 

that you can’t believe happiness is so simple. 

But you don’t need to seek fulfilment -

all you have to do is remember 

to relax and reverse your attention 

to enter and explore your inner space 

until you can sense the glowing, gleaming treasure

that was never even buried, only lightly covered

by the restless surface of your mind.
